Pensara started in Chiang Mai in 2018, when its founder — after helping elderly relatives sort through boxes of pension letters — realised how many families across Northern Thailand were in the same position. Retirement is a big milestone, but the paperwork that comes with it can feel overwhelming, especially when documents are written in bureaucratic language that few people find easy to follow.
The name Pensara is a blend of "pension" and "sara," the Thai word for essence. The idea is simple: we help you get to the heart of what your retirement documents are telling you, without the noise.
Since those early days, Pensara has worked with hundreds of individuals and families in Chiang Mai, Mae Rim, and beyond — helping them bring structure and calm to what is often a confusing pile of paperwork.

Founder & Lead Consultant
Rachel built Pensara after fifteen years working in document management and adult education. She leads most of the Checklist and Long-Term Records sessions in person.
Somchai Wiriyaphong
Client Relations & Local Liaison
Somchai handles scheduling, bilingual support, and home visits across Chiang Mai. He helps bridge language gaps when clients bring Thai-language documents to sessions.
Nuttira Phanupong
Course Facilitator
Nuttira leads the Pension Terms Made Simple course, drawing on a background in adult literacy education. She has a talent for turning complicated vocabulary into everyday language.

For clients on the Long-Term Records Programme, we schedule regular check-ins to update records, add new documents, and keep the system current.

Pensara works with people at a stage of life when getting paperwork in order really matters. Pension statements, superannuation documents, provident fund correspondence, state benefit records — these accumulate over decades and can become difficult to navigate, especially if they come from multiple countries or employers.
Our consultants bring a practical, patient approach to every session. We do not make assumptions about what you know or how much you have already organised. Many of our clients arrive with very little sorted; others have everything in folders but cannot make sense of the terminology. Both starting points are equally valid, and we work from wherever you are.
Based in Wat Ket, one of Chiang Mai's most established neighbourhoods, Pensara is part of the local community. We understand the context that many retirees and pre-retirees in Northern Thailand face — navigating documents from home countries while living abroad, organising records for family members who may step in during health changes, and building systems that will still make sense years down the line.
We do this work carefully, consistently, and without any agenda other than leaving you better organised than when you arrived.
